Last month Christie's opened up a space inside the Simon & Schuster headquarters, an exclusive spot previously used to display the auction house's collections. Now available for planners to rent for events, Christie's Private Gallery is, as one would expect, a gallery-style site with white walls, glossy white floors, and a lots of natural light. The space sits on the 20th and 21st floors of the Sixth Avenue building, just around the corner from Christie's New York salesroom and a block from Rockefeller Center properties like Radio City Music Hall and the ice-skating rink.
Measuring a total of 17,000 square feet, the venue is broken up into three interconnected galleries, which can be used separately for smaller groups. There's kitchen space, back-of-house areas, built-in lighting, and parking available in a garage less than a block away on West 48th Street. In terms of capacity, Christie's Private Gallery can accommodate as many as 300 for a reception, 200 for a seated dinner, or 100 for a presentation. In-house catering is provided by Mary Giuliani Catering & Events.
