Tiara Feeds Downtown's Fashion Flock

Chef Fred Eric (owner and chef of Vida, now defunct) opened his new restaurant, Tiara Café, in the New Mart building in downtown's fashion district on March 24—just in time to promote the space to visitors to L.A. market week and to the Designers & Agents event following on the heels of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The cavernous space has a fantastical forest look, thanks to soaring ceilings painted with airbrushed designs that evoke a fairies' milieu. Eric's cuisine focuses on balanced meals and healthy eating. Tiara will only be open for breakfast and lunch—appropriate for the schedules of the area's working crowd. —Alesandra Dubin
