Ah, the risks of booking a news anchor as an event host. When the Meredith Publishing Group rolled out its magazine for Latina women, Siempre Mujer, last Thursday at LQ, Soledad O'Brien, co-anchor of CNN's American Morning and one of the launch issue's cover subjects, was scheduled to host the pink-toned party. But when she couldn't make it because she was in Louisiana covering the Hurricane Katrina disaster, she sent a taped apology, which guests viewed during remarks by Meredith execs. Karla Ramirez Floral Design decorated the event with pink floral arrangements and table linens from Party Rental. Andrew Rubenoff Productions washed LQ with pink light, and the cover of the premiere issue was frozen inside ice sculptures from Ice Sculpture Designs. Eddie Palmieri and his band performed for the rest of the evening. Goodman Media International handled the PR.
