It wasn't revolutionary, but it was effective: For Independent Curators International's (ICI) 25th anniversary benefit gala, the arts group put lots of votive candles on long tables running the length of Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers. There were no lush flowers, no huge decor pieces--just intimate, flattering light.
And in addition to being a cheap alternative to pricey centerpieces, the candles and long tables made for a very different-looking benefit, especially considering that variety in seating arrangements at these events usually means choosing a round table for either 10 or 12.
