Matthew Robbins of decor and design firm Artfool didn't want to overwhelm guests with over-the-top decor at the Kitchen's benefit at Gotham Hall. "I wanted it to feel understated and elegant," he told us. "And it's a great venue, so I didn't want anything too glitzy." With that in mind, Robbins printed out video stills of past Kitchen performances and wrapped them around cylindrical flower vases filled with white flowers. The tables were covered with pale mint green tablecloths, and bright red programs designed by Doublespace dotted the tables for an eye-catching effect. (We think the pictures-on-vases idea could work as a way to honor people at lots of different events—from benefits to sales meetings.)
Produced by Melissa Feldman of MF Productions, the event honored Robert and Melissa Soros, both members of the Kitchen's board. The event raised $400,000 for the arts nonprofit.
