The 2005 Genie awards celebrated more than just excellence in Canadian filmmaking. This year marked the silver anniversary of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television and its award show, the Genies, hosted this year by comedy legend Andrea Martin.
The star-studded gala, produced by Party Barbara Company, was a dinner and televised award show with sponsors from Star TV, Chum TV, and Bravo lending a hand with broadcasting and audiovisual efforts. Tables were draped in alternating linens of shimmering navy organza and a blue, white, and gold gingham pattern, both from Around the Table. Floral arrangements from Emblem Flowers were simple, with natural branch and bud arrangements, while the dinner flatware and Chiavari chairs from Chair-man Mills added silver accents.
Guests dined on a feastprepared by the Metro Toronto Convention Centre Catering department as they looked to a three-dimensional soaring arched stage set of light and design created by Set Solutions/Performance Solutions. A lively after-party with DJ Piers from Third From the Sun concluded the event.
