The decor and the food for the launch of Antonio, by Antonio Banderas, the new men’s scent from Antonio Banderas Seductive Fragrances and PUIG Beauty took cues from the fragrance’s packaging, composition, and the brand’s Spanish roots. The party also announced the partnership between Banderas and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS whereby the fragrance firm will sponsor the actor’s participation in the nonprofit's events and activities and make an annual donation. For the event Mark Addison of EventStyle New York worked with Bratskeir & Seidman and product manager Segundo Broggi and director of marketing Greg Black of PUIG to fill a room at newly opened lounge The Plumm with flowers, aromatic elements, and Spanish touches. The freestanding walls that encased plasma screen televisions (showing a 30-second commercial for the fragrance) mimicked the honeycomb pattern of the box and ingredients from the scent (including lemon, bergamot, orange, cumin, patchouli, and pepper berries) filled the bases of the product displays. To contrast the deep purple color scheme of the club, tall floral arrangements featuring curved branches, thistle, peonies, and aromatic herbs like lavender, mint, and rosemary stood among the lounge furniture. On short tables around the space scented votive candles surrounded smaller arrangements that sat atop Spanish tiles and along the backs of the banquettes. In the women’s restroom, Addison scattered red rose petals.
To further highlight Banderas’ cultural background, Yann de Rochefort, owner of the soon-to-open restaurant Boqueria, devised a light tapas menu that included passed hors d’oeuvres like braised short rib empanadas, patatas bravas, and grilled shrimp and piquillo peppers on skewers. Food stations featured Spanish-style omelets as well as Spanish cheeses and cured meats.
