You've got to figure the top 40 lawyers under 40 for a lively group. So it was fitting that Canadian law magazine Lexpert transformed Kool Haus into an explosion of vivid colours for its Rising Stars, Top 40 Lawyers Under 40 gala dinner. Former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, a senior partner at Ogilvy Renault, added to the evening's luster by delivering the keynote address. The normally drab, warehouse-style Kool Haus was aglow with vibrant decor: fuchsia, yellow, and orange spot lighting appeared on cocktail tables; large, hourglass-shaped spandex vase structures had colourful twisted wires protruding from the tops; and, on the stage, lit inflatable wall structures were flanked by enormous twisted flower arrangements. In the dining space, coloured orchids and roses blossomed in soaring centerpiece arrangements from Eden Planning. The blooms topped fuchsia and orange table linens from Have a Seat. Six-foot, inflatable, star-shaped lights hung from the ceiling above the tables. Opulence Catering served dinner on plates of various sizes and, of course, vivid colours. After the dinner and speeches, entertainers from Zero Gravity Circus performed an acrobatic routine in the centre of the dining area. Lexpert general manager Mark Rousseau said the high-energy event decor supported the magazine's desire to "recognize the achievements of the next generation who will help shape the future of the legal profession in Canada."
