The food, the drinks, the cars—everything was mini on June 22 at the Catalina Hotel and Beach Club. The hotel played host to a collection of Mini Coopers through the ages at the "Everything Mini" event put on by Six Degrees magazine.Six Degrees, a pocket-size fashion and entertainment magazine, sponsored the event to increase visibility and branding opportunities for their advertisers.
"The idea is to constantly be branding and getting exposure for companies that are advertising with us," says Michael Melfi, the magazine's C.E.O.
As guests arrived, they walked by a variety of Mini Coopers of different colors and from over the years provided by Minis of Miami, an organization whose members own various models of Mini Coopers. The models at the event ranged from a 1973 light blue Clubman Estate Wagon to a 2005 light blue S model.
The patio out front showcased another of Six Degrees' advertisers, Flower Megastore. Arrangements of hydrangeas, freesias, mini calla lilies, spray roses, and gerberas, along with tropical greenery, adorned the tables. The centerpieces also included mini white pillar candles and complimentary copies of Six Degrees' latest issue.
The cars and candles were just the beginning of what was mini at the Catalina. Inside, chef Gitorrio Lozzi of the Catalina Hotel prepared a sampling of comfort-food tidbits. Mini burgers, mini baguette sandwiches, and mini pizzas were served on large silver platters.
In addition, the bar was lined with small eight-ounce vintage Coca-Cola bottles, and waitresses passed out shots of Tezón Tequila, another Six Degrees advertiser.
