Here's a look at 10 steal-worthy ideas we spotted this week, including a floral carpet Preston Bailey designed for a stunning private event, a Norwegian soft drink company's giant message in a bottle, the California Science Center's space-themed gala, an enormous LED light sculpture known as "Bay Lights" in San Francisco, Asian-inspired meeting snacks, and more.
Private Event by Preston Bailey

Preston Bailey, one of our top 35 event designers, created a floral carpet for a private event. "I designed a 'carpet' and filled it with hundreds of beautiful blooms and then covered it with Plexiglas. The result was a statement piece that allowed guests to dance on air," the designer said. California Science Center Discovery Ball

After it scored one of NASA's coveted crafts late last year amid citywide pomp, the Los Angeles museum sold out tables for its Discovery Ball—even before the invitation dropped. The glitzy event took place under the wings of the Endeavour on March 9.

'American Idol' Party

Fox celebrated American Idol's top 10 contestants with a splashy party March 7 at the Grove in Los Angeles. Working with Fox Television's Karin Pofsky, YourBash handled production and design, infusing the tented space with rich, highly saturated colors. Bright green laser-like lights proved a focal point. The lighting scheme was designed by Geffen's business partner Brian Worley and was inspired by Pantone's color of the year, emerald.

Bulgari Omnia Amethyste Luncheon

A Bulgari launch party in New York in 2007, featured in our roundup of beauty product launch ideas, was filled with fragrant greenery and pretty blossoms. The luncheon saw garden roses in hanging birdcages, a Lucite tasting bar filled with wood chips and balsa wood, and a wall of pink damask roses that gave off a subtle aroma.

Bay Lights

On March 5, the "Bay Lights" project made its official debut as the world's largest LED light sculpture. Created by light artist Leo Villareal, the installation includes more than 25,000 individually programmed LEDs strung along suspension cables on San Francisco's Bay Bridge. Inspired by the bridge's 75th anniversary, the sculpture will remain in place until 2015. Watch a video of the mesmerizing show here.

Solo Promotion

The Norwegian soft drink brand Solo just launched a rather unusual marketing stunt—literally. To promote the beverage to consumers in countries other than Norway, the company constructed a 26-foot-long replica of the soda's bright bottle. Holding a case of Solo and a 12-square-meter letter to whoever finds it, the bottle is 26 feet long and weighs 2.5 tons. It was released into the ocean currents outside of the Canary Islands on Wednesday.

Univision's Campaign Launch

To unveil the name and logo of a new campaign, Univision hosted a classic warm-weather fete—a block party—in Miami on February 28. Produced by Shiraz Events, the upbeat event had elements of a classic neighborhood gathering. Event signage took on a street-party vibe with chalked arrows on the sidewalks leading guests to the party's location on the Univision studio's back lot.

Private Event by David Beahm

David Beahm, founder of David Beahm Design, is known for his sculptural, dramatic floral arrangements that are about more than just placing flowers in a vase. For a private social event in the Tent at Lincoln Center in New York, projections covered the ceilings and vines curled around oversize centerpieces.
