Jaime A. Samar-Gramatikos is the special events coordinator at the SemperComm Foundation, a nonprofit that raises funds to support military troops overseas. She plans roughly 11 events annually, ranging from 100 to 800 attendees.

Production:
“The SemperComm Foundation is a nonprofit, so we have to work within a strict budget when planning. We’ve worked with National Events LLC for the past three years because their pricing is the best. They bring creative and dynamic ideas to the table that always exceed our expectations. This year we did a small event on Capitol Hill, and National Events took an old-style room and turned it into a contemporary, trendy space, with high-end furniture and plasma TVs.”Photography: “We’ve worked with corporate events photographer Ira Wexler of Ira Wexler Photography Inc. for the past year now, and I really like his demeanor, scheduling flexibility, and that he goes out of his way creatively. A lot of people don’t like to have their picture taken, but Ira relaxes his subjects and really brings their personality out for every photo. He’s also great within a time crunch; after an event, I needed pictures back within 48 hours, and I got them.”

“No matter the size of the event, whether it be 30 or 800 guests, Freed Photography’s team is always flexible, and the quality is always excellent. Last year, I wanted guests to have the option of purchasing pictures online, and Freed provided that service.”

Graphic Design: “Jessica Gladstone at Computer Systems Center Inc. can handle the visual aspects for an event—everything from the theme to floral. Last September, I worked with Jessica on SemperComm’s golf classic, and she created all the signage and collateral materials. One of her tasks was to create a course guide that mapped out the entire course in a paint-chip fan book layout; the design redefined this typically traditional event with a nontraditional flair.”

Signage:Imaging Zone has excellent service. They treat each client as if they are the only client. When we bring an idea to them, they listen and give advice that is conscious of our budget while maintaining high quality. For the SemperComm Lounge event in January, we had to take a very boring room and spice it up. Originally, we felt our budget could only accommodate sponsor signs on foam core, but Imaging Zone gave us such great pricing that we were [able to] use vinyl.”

Printing: “With Ambertone Press, you can go in and say, ‘I want my program in a box’ or ‘I want my invitation in a folder,’ and they will give you honest feedback. They always try to come up with a solution to enhance and improve the original concept, and their prices can’t be beat.”
