

Following the Screen Actors Guild awards ceremony on Saturday, People magazine and the Entertainment Industry Foundation hosted an after-party with production from Event Eleven. A photo of a Parisian greenhouse inspired the look of the event, which had a chic white bar decked with topiary-like greenery and flowers.

For her New Year's Eve nuptials, actress Kaley Cuoco had an upside-down wedding cake created by Kimberly Bailey of the Butter End Cakery in Los Angeles. During the wedding, Cuoco posted a photo of the cake to her Twitter and Instagram accounts, and “our traffic went insane,” said Sara Beveridge, director of operations at the Butter End. “We have 3,000 new Instagram followers ... and 2,000 new Facebook fans.”

At HBO's 2010 fete in Los Angeles, the banana-leaf-patterned carpet and animal print linens and seat cushions echoed the party's "Tarzan and Jane meet Palm Beach" motif. Banana and palm trees 30 feet high added to the lush jungle atmosphere.

At MoMA's Party in the Garden in April, the arrivals backdrop—featuring the Cartier and MoMA logos rendered in neon and marquee lights—echoed the dense arrangements of tropical greenery found inside the dinner space.

Marking the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, this year’s gala raised a record $1.4 million. It drew 500 guests, as compared to 350 guests in 2015. Held at Navy Pier, the evening featured a performance from actor Alan Cumming. It culminated in a fireworks show set to live music from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Next: Spring 2017
