For its fall gala, the Whitney Museum of American Art transformed much of its space to match the event's "Club Whitney" theme, which was inspired by the museum's current Edward Steichen exhibit. Guests entering the museum's lobby (which was draped in burgundy) were greeted by models in 30's clothing lounging on a set of stairs. Harriet Weintraub and Virginia Coleman of Loving & Weintraub helped plan the event.
The museum's fourth floor was made into an elaborate dining room with red velvet curtains covering the walls, and zebra-print carpets, chairs and banquettes. The decor--meant to evoke a 30's nightclub, a la El Morocco--was designed by folks from Bergdorf Goodman, and the set pieces were custom built by Bestek Lighting & Staging. The tables also included red roses by Bill Tansey Design. Andrea Marcovicci sang at dinner, and later DJ Mark Ronson spun during the after-party in the museum's basement, which was bathed in blue light and filled with blue lounge furniture in various shapes and sizes.

Bestek Lighting & Staging custom built banquettes and other set pieces to make the Whitney's fourth floor resemble a 30's nightclub.

For cocktails after dinner, the Whitney's basement area was filled with various lounge furniture in shades of blue and purple.
