For its 10th annual fund-raiser, legal services nonprofit Bet Tzedek wanted to throw a party that offered something big for 3,200 guests. Joining the roster of well-known artists the event has drawn throughout its history—Ozomatli last year, Billy Idol in 2000—was the Go-Go’s, the band picked to headline this year’s event by organizers Matt Scelza, the charity’s director of development, and Kathy English, its special events coordinator. Bet Tzedek tapped Shawn Flannigan of Gunnar Productions for production assistance, with decor design by Russell Harris of the Russell Harris Event Group.Decor in the cavernous Hollywood Palladium space included light-up furniture and soaring bars from Classic Party Rentals (Classic’s Michael Miner was on the party’s planning committee). San Manuel Indian Casino sponsored casino entertainment—another fun touch for the event’s decade milestone—and Fresh Roast Daily sponsored a dessert and coffee bar. The ball also featured a more expansive silent auction than in years past, and a private lounge for V.I.P. donors. The event raised $550,000.
