An English Tavern (With a Private Room)

Drawing its decor inspiration from the English countryside, Kemble Park Tavern opened in late November in the Palisades neighborhood and features wrought-iron chandeliers, rich wood floors, and pastoral landscapes on the walls. Working an authentic tavern look, the 80-seat restaurant has four distinct spaces: a main dining room, a private dining room, a bar, and a lounge area.

A long banquette runs the length of the dining room, accented by sable-green armchairs, tables set for two, and three large booths, each with a window that opens to a hallway near the front of the restaurant. (For a unique touch, servers can take diners' orders through the windows.)The 16-seat private dining room also has a country influence, with red walls, dramatic candelabra, and a (nonfunctional) fireplace. The window-lined bar at the front of the restaurant has additional seating, including two large community-style tables. A cozy sitting-room-style lounge adjacent to the entrance features an overstuffed sofa and coffee table. (The space can accommodate guests for dinner if the restaurant is crowded.) Hearty, regional American fare is on the menu, with dishes such as grilled lamb chops, burgers, and filet mignon. Kemble Park makes an effort to source many of its ingredients locally.
