To honor its hard-working staff, the principals of BankAtlantic threw a fun-filled, art-themed appreciation dinner. At the end of the workday, hundreds of employees filtered into the Fort Lauderdale-based War Memorial Auditorium and traded their business suits for white paper jumpsuits and cotton caps to become artists for the evening.
Mona S. Meretsky and Linda German of COMCOR Event and Meeting Production turned the auditorium into a colorful space—a play date for adults. Attendees personalized their hats with craft supplies piled high on long tables while singing along to classic dance songs spun by Tom Caminiti of MAJIC 102.7 fame. Dinner was served on tables covered with brightly colored linens; paint cans filled with multicolored daisies served as centerpieces. The entire event was awash in color.
In between dances like the electric slide and the macarena, BankAtlantic's staff socialized, adding their own artistic touch to an interactive mural set up by Elle Holbrooke of the Las Olas Art Center. Las Olas also provided several finished pieces of artwork to decorate the space. At this dinner, it was okay to play with the food—the Florida Culinary Institute had student Bryan Lamblin carving roses out of radishes and designs out of watermelons while Candy Miller carved sculptures from blocks of ice.
