At the 2010 National Opera Ball, the winter theme continued into the courtyard, which featured fake snow falling from the rooftop and was designed as a tribute to the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Entertainers circled the snow-filled courtyard in inflated Zorbs.

With a color palette of aubergine, champagne, and chartreuse, this year's Governors Ball will be held in the Ray Dolby ballroom of the Hollywood & Highland Center directly following the Academy Awards telecast February 24. The centerpiece of the space will be an 18-foot gold Oscar.

A variety of seating configurations, with furniture from Lux Lounge EFR, will give the official Oscars after-party a more relaxed feel, and the warm aubergine hues will add an air of intimacy to space.

For the 20th consecutive year, Mark Held will create the floral decor for the Governors Ball, this year incorporating the aubergine and chartreuse of the event's overall color palette. One element has flowers designed to look as if they're growing out of the glass cocktail tables.

The blossoming cocktail tables will be paired with bar strools upholstered in a deep shade of purple.

Other tabletops will feature a mix of purple calla lilies, kale, artichokes, and fern shoots, with green anthurium and black ti leaves added to low arrangements. The flowers complement Resource One's linens, which include the aubergine circle ribbon taffeta.

Chefs Wolfgang Puck and Matt Bencivenga have devised a menu of passed hors d'oeuvres, cocktail platters, and small plates for this year's event. Items include spicy tuna tartare in a seasame miso cone with pickled ginger and bonito flakes, vegetable spring rolls, and Oscar-shaped smoked salmon with dill crème fraîche and caviar.

The Governors Ball will also offer a sushi and shellfish station as well as a plethora of desserts, like mango crumble and a "snowball"—a ginger meringue dome with cassis sorbet, yogurt whip, lavender macaron confetti, and blueberries.

Recording Academy "Grammy Celebration" Official After-Party
Branden Chapman, Rex Supa, Clay Upton, and Casey Immoor headed up the Recording Academy's official bash, and Along Came Mary Productions, helmed by longtime collaborator Mary Micucci, once again produced the affair. Inspired by Bollywood, the post-ceremony event took over a space the size of three football fields with entertainers, dancers, acrobats, projections, elevated lounges, and design evocative of the the world of Indian films. A massive covered decor piece in the center of the space served as a raised stage for dancers; it included a working fountain filled with flowers and was surrounded by bench seating.

Recording Academy "Grammy Celebration" Official After-Party
Jewel tones added bright pops of color to the enormous space, with linens, lanterns, and other decor pieces all decked out in bold orange, purple, pink, and red hues.

Cash Money Records Pre-Grammy Awards Party
Colin Cowie returned to produce Cash Money Records' annual preparty with a vintage Las Vegas theme—think Rat Pack mixed with Crazy Horse. At the entrance to the soundstage at the Lot in West Hollywood was a vintage 1951 Cadillac convertible. Inside the space, there were palm trees throughout along with a section of cabanas.

Rustic Glamour
"Sweet, simply styled rustic weddings are in large part what helped put wedding blogs on the map," writes Larson of the popular look, adding that the latest way of approaching the now-iconic style is by juxtaposing homespun elements, such as burlap and farm tables, with opulent details, such as high-end china and gold-rimmed stemware.

Organic Modernism
"Modern means 'minimal' in my book," writes Larson. "Clean lines, simple color palettes (whether bold or demure), repetition in pattern and style." Often spotted at modern, organically styled weddings, succulents are a wildly popular wedding centerpiece trend. Larson recommends pairing a succulent table runner with white square chargers and simple cutlery for an understated vibe.

In keeping with the travel theme, bars appeared to have suitcases stacked within them. To underscore the idea of time travel, tall lamps were wrapped with oversize clock numbers and gears, and lampshades featured maps.

Diffa Trend: Neutral Palettes
For the first time, Diffa expanded beyond dining installations to feature a custom bar and lounge area, sponsored by EFFEN Vodka and designed by the brand’s designer partner, Richard Chai. The modern space showcased a sculptural blonde wood bar inspired by the circular shape of the EFFEN bottle.

Diffa Trend: Residential Design
Interior designer Libby Langdon's table for Liebherr showcased a chandelier made from wine bottles and filament bulbs. A lush centerpiece of greenery, succulents, and moss completed the homey style.
