The Taste, which combined Taste of Beverly Hills presented by Food & Wine magazine and The Los Angeles Times’ Celebration of Food & Wine into one event, will scale back in its second year, shifting the focus entirely to Southern California food and beverage trends. (Food & Wine is no longer involved.) All events will be held at the Studios at Paramount, instead of around town. Next: September 1-3, 2012

San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival’s five-day fest, produced by World of Wine Events and Fast Forward Event Productions, is now in its ninth year and bills itself as Southern California’s largest wine and food festival. This year, U.C.L.A. Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center hosted its 17th annual Taste for a Cure food and wine tasting benefit at the Beverly Wilshire on April 20, honoring NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke. The event has raised more than $8 million since its inception. Next: Spring 2013
