The 70th annual Washington Auto Show opens to the public following three days of press and policymaker preview events. This year, organizers reworked the show's 767,600-square-foot layout by bringing luxury car lines onto one level and aligning mid-priced brands on the second floor of the Walter E. Attendance at the Travel & Adventure Show continues to grow, with more than 20,400 people this year, a 21 percent increase. Speakers such as Rick Steves, Andrew Zimmern, and Arthur Frommer draw the crowds. Next: February 22-23, 2014

More than 26,000 people attended the 17th Capital Home & Garden Show at the Dulles Expo Center. Highlights included five feature gardens from top landscaping companies and stage presentations from experts such as Justin Cave of HGTV’s Ground Breakers. Next: February 21-23, 2014

The juried exhibition and sale of fine American craft had 121 craft artists, 44 of whom were new to the show. Special events this year included Martha Stewart speaking about her "American Made" initiative. Next: April 10-13, 2014
