Legends in Music is the theme for this year’s TD Canada Trust-sponsored 10-day festival, featuring Chaka Khan and Earth, Wind & Fire. A partnership with WorldPride 2014 will bring a free kickoff concert with Melissa Etheridge and Deborah Cox. Next: June 20-29, 2014

#2 Music Event
The festival expands from seven to 10 days this year as it celebrates its 20th anniversary and welcomes new sponsors VICE Media and Boiler Room. Originally a music fest, NXNE now includes film and interactive attractions as well. Next: June 13-22, 2014

The MuchMusic Video Awards are going big this year with the largest stage ever and a simulcast on CTV. Free outdoor performances and a red carpet turn hip Queen Street West into a sea of screaming teens. Next: June 15, 2014

North America’s largest free festival draws nearly one million people over 10 days. The two main stages appeal to jazz lovers for free and ticketed events, while foodies will flock to the Taste of Jazz food trucks for the second year in a row. Next: July 18-27, 2014

Tom Cochrane will be inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame during this year’s business-and-pleasure music conference. Locals and visitors can take in the more than 1,000 bands at 60 venues over five nights. Next: May 6-10, 2014

Awarded for Canadian album of the year, judged solely on artistic merit and not record sales, the prize has become one of the top honors in Canadian music since its inception in 2006. This year the $30,000 winner will be announced at a gala at the posh Carlu. Next: September 22, 2014
