More than 30,000 people gathered on the South Lawn for the 136th annual event, which had a theme of “Hop Into Healthy, Swing Into Shape.” In addition to the egg hunt, the event had an obstacle course, cooking demonstrations, and story time with President Obama, who read Where the Wild Things Are. #4 Holiday Event
Presented by the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation on the Ellipse at President’s Park, the event kicks off the holiday season. Last year performers included Mariah Carey, Renée Fleming, and Aretha Franklin. Next: December 2014

Hosted by Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise, the concert honored military service with speakers and entertainers including General Colin Powell, Jennifer Nettles, Dianne Wiest, and Megan Hilty. Next: May 24, 2015
