Beyond providing iconic and stylish event rental furniture, making life easier for designers, planners, and producers is what FormDecor is all about. Managing bids or multiple designs for in-house projects can be daunting and stressful for those in the event industry. FormDecor is changing the game by providing an online lifesaver (or at least an online timesaver).
Before relaunching its website this past spring, FormDecor wanted to do something different. After researching options and polling some repeat clients, one common item was on the wish list: an aggregator. With the ubiquitous presence of social media collection sites like Pinterest or We Heart It, there's a want and need for a wish list service. But because event furniture rental websites aren’t retail or e-commerce, wish list features sometimes don't exist. And while FormDecor isn't selling, it does recognize the need for these types of planning tools, so it created Designer Space. Designed as an all-inclusive project management tool, FormDecor's Designer Space includes planning tools such as 3-D models, sharable lists, full-color photos, quantity counts, and the ability to submit quotes based on a project.
"The website relaunch wasn't just a fresh coat of paint. We wanted to become a resource for designers and planners,” said FormDecor president Fritz Williams. “Creating the Designer Space allows anyone coming to our website to create a free account in seconds and start planning. It's a boon to us because all a client needs to do is submit one of their projects to us for a quote and we can instantly respond."
The free service allows event planners to name their projects, then establish privacy settings if they want to share a list. Sharing a project list is an efficient method of communication for consulting on or approving designs. It's also an easy way to send an idea board to friends or colleagues. Ultimately, FormDecor is offering a new one-stop shopping experience for event furniture rental. "While the new website looks great, I'm proud that we're able to maintain an edge and offer unique services for a boutique rental company,” Williams said. “It's important to me that we maintain that status of one-on-one, personal shopping online as we do when someone comes to visit our facilities. The Designer Space allows us to carry over that personalized touch and make our clients experience effortless."
