Guest-Controlled Event Becomes Giant Video Game

Video-game creator Notch hosted an after-party for the annual Game Developers' Conference in San Francisco. Held at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium March 28, the event was produced by Production Club and had interactive elements that appealed to the tech-savvy crowd.

Centering on performances from musical acts including Skrillex and Diplo, the event had a V.I.P. lounge that let guests control four different aspects of the event. Using Production Club's custom software, guests could control the overall event lighting, create special effects, generate real-time video effects, and play a track-and-field-style race game.

In February, the Boston Winter Ball—often referred to as “Boston’s Biggest Night Out” and held at Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport—raised $2.1 million for underprivileged youth via the Corey C. Griffin Foundation. Produced by AJ Williams of AJ Events, the black-tie fundraiser featured a 60-by-60-foot dance floor with a 40-by-50-foot disco ball/silver orb ceiling treatment, which set the stage for a laser light show.
