Variety has some details about a relatively last-minute Barack Obama fund-raiser in town today. (The candidate's travel schedule necessitates very short lead times for event organizers.) Obama will start the evening with a 5 p.m. dinner for about 250 at former Doheny estate Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills; tickets for the event are $28,500. The candidate will then attend a reception at the Beverly Wilshire, where Barbra Streisand will perform for about 700 in the ballroom. Tickets for that event are $2,500 each. Cohosts include Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and David Geffen, plus political consultant Andy Spahn.
Today's fund-raiser is expected to be the candidate's final visit to raise money locally before the general election, according to the report.
