Gyenari Korean BBQ & Lounge opened in Culver City last Thursday. Architect David Chun and interior designer Robert Weimer (the man behind BLD and Grace) are behind the venue’s modern look, which features brick walls and ceilings with exposed trusses and ducts.

The main dining room seats 107 at tables with inlaid gas grills, and its focal point is a 35-by-10-foot saffron-toned mural of a mountain vista with gyenari flower blossoms by artist Mike Murphy. A private dining room holds 30 for seated events or can be divided into two rooms that each accommodate 15. The eatery’s lounge seats 24, and its outdoor patio seats 26. The venue is available for buyout and seats 175 total.

The menu of Korean barbecue fare includes fire scallops in Cajun butter sauce and black cod simmered in a garlic-infused sauce. A variety of market-fresh vegetables and seafood, pork, and prime rib are also available, and can be cooked to order by groups at the grill tables.
