Christine Hogarth, director of events for the Toronto Board of Trade, relied on a team of suppliers to help her create a sense of occasion for the 1,600 business leaders and politicians who attended the organization's 120th annual dinner at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Monday night. โThere are always challenges with every type of event, but Iโm fortunate to have excellent suppliers,โ Hogarth said.
Decor With Grandeur created an intimate feel in the convention centre's Constitution Hall, covering the dining tables in white, gold, and brown satin linens. Chairs covered in corresponding fabric were either knotted or cinched at the back with sparkling brooches. Centrepieces included tall slim glass vases containing white tulips surrounded by white tea lights and faux gemstones.Decor With Grandeur also created an elegant setting in the private lounge, which was sponsored by the Certified General Accountants of Ontario. Large urns filled with white tulips and hydrangeas were placed at the entrance to the room. Inside, white candles, flowers, and furnitureโaccented with silver sequined pillows and white faux-fur carpetsโcreated a quiet spot for guests.
Golden Productions provided audiovisual coverage of the event with four large screens placed adjacent to the main stage area and additional screens at the end of the large event space. Seamus OโRegan of CTVโs Canada AM hosted the evening, which included a video by the firm Wolfson Bell showcasing Torontoโs diversity in business and culture, and a speech by American economist Richard Florida.
Entertainment included the Howard Lopez Trio, electric fusion violinist Dr. Draw, and a hand-to-hand strength performance by Cirque du Soleil. "At the end of the day itโs all about the members and the members feeling welcome, happy, and really liking what they see,โ Hogarth said.
