At the corner of Adelaide and Parliament streets, LoftRaum @ UrbanAmish is a new event venue in Corktown that doubles as the showroom for UrbanAmish Interiorsโa furniture store featuring custom pieces from the Ohio Amish community. The property, which once housed The Toronto Telegram, gets its name from the German word for "loft space."
The venue houses two levels of loft-style event facilities complete with hardwood flooring, exposed brick walls, original distressed wood beams (circa 1880), 12-foot ceilings, and a steel-and-glass staircase that connects the two floors.
โWe took advantage of the original oversize columns, beams, and open plank ceiling, and added to the ambience by installing hardwood imported from the Ohio Amish community," said owner Ed Hachey.
The venue has showroom track lighting, a house PA system, washrooms on both levels, elevator access to the second floor, and a loading bay. Each level can accommodate as many as 400 for receptions or 200 for seated dinners. Rental fees include the use of any UrbanAmish Interiors showroom furniture and accessories.
