Palm Springs Short Film Fest Kicks Off 14th Year With 317-Film Lineup

The 14th year of the Palm Springs International ShortFest will kick off tomorrow and run through August 27 at the Camelot Theatres in the desert. The festival will screen 317 films, including 53 world premieres. In its first 13 years, the festival has shown 58 films that have gone on to receive Academy Award nominations. Darryl Macdonald is the festival director.

This year's festival will feature three master classes, one with actor Bill Pullman and another with Oscar-nominated cinematographer William Fraker presenting and discussing their work with filmmakers. The Palm Springs International ShortFest and its Short Film Market are the largest short film showcases in North America.

The City of Palm Springs is the festival's title sponsor, with other sponsors including The Desert Sun, Kodak, Nickelodeon, and Panavision; the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences is a supporting foundation. The Hilton Palm Springs Resort is the official host hotel and media center.
