December 3, 2018: Memorial Service for George H.W. Bush To Be Held Wednesday, Kid Rock Replaced As Grand Marshal in Nashville Parade, Live Nation Announces First-Ever Lawn Pass

1. MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR GEORGE H.W. BUSH TO BE HELD WEDNESDAY: The 41st President of the United States George H.W. Bush died at the age of 94 late Friday at his home in Houston. According to the official schedule of memorial services, which was released Saturday night, the public will have an opportunity to pay their respects to Bush in the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol, starting Monday evening up until his memorial service Wednesday morning. CNN: “On Wednesday, family and friends will gather at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., for an 11 a.m. ET memorial service. President Donald Trump designated Wednesday as a national day of mourning, the White House said. The former president will also lie in repose at St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston, where Bush lived, from 7:45 p.m. ET Wednesday until 7 a.m. ET Thursday. 2. KID ROCK REPLACED AS GRAND MARSHAL IN NASHVILLE PARADE: On Friday, during an interview on Fox & Friends about his new Nashville restaurant, Kid Rock (whose real name is Robert Ritchie) used an expletive to describe the View co-host Joy Behar, who had criticized the musician for his White House visit last year with Sarah Palin and Ted Nugent. His comments immediately incited backlash, causing the organizers for Saturday’s Nashville Christmas Parade to replace him as the event’s grand marshal. The Washington Post: "In a statement Friday afternoon published by the Tennessean, parade organizers and sponsors announced that they were seeking to replace Ritchie with James Shaw Jr., who was celebrated as a hero in April after wrestling away the rifle from a gunman during a shooting at a Waffle House near Nashville. ‘Parade organizers feel that the Grand Marshal should personify the spirit of the Nashville community,’ the sponsors said in a statement, ‘and have invited James Shaw Jr., who became a community hero after stopping a shooting at a local Waffle House earlier this year, to be honored.’” https://tinyurl.com/yd47vroh

3. LIVE NATION ANNOUNCES FIRST-EVER LAWN PASS: Starting on Tuesday, fans in Chicago, Phoenix, Dallas, Tampa, and other cities will be able to purchase the first-ever Live Nation Lawn Pass, which will give them access to their local amphitheater for the 2019 concert season, including sold-out shows. The pass will be available at 29 amphitheaters that are owned and/or operated by the promoter and will start from $99 to $399, depending on the venue. Billboard: “The pass will allow fans to show up on the day of the event, have access to Fast Lane entry, scanned into the event and even provide one lawn chair rental per concert.
