The most recent addition to the Boston Chocolate Tours' offerings, "An Evening of Chocolate and Wine," caters to corporate groups of at least 12 guests. The classes, which can incorporate teambuilding activities, let guests sample five chocolates from New England artisans, and each treat is paired with a wine.
Pairings may include dark chocolate with a wine that has cinnamon notes, making the chocolate taste spicier, or milk chocolate paired with a floral wine that brings out the candy's creaminess. Classes can last anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes, depending on group size.
Workshops are either held in the College Club on Commonwealth Avenue or in offices or event spaces; they can also take place in private homes. Classes held at the College Club start at $750, while tastings held elsewhere start at $550. The tastings can accommodate more than 12 guests, at a rate of $40 per additional head.
