1. EVENTS ON THE BOOKS: Publications like Fortune are discovering that live events are attracting advertisers with something other then the traditional ad pages—speakers like President Obama and Warren Buffett. Ad Age: "You can see the appeal from Fortune's perspective: Profit from events rose 63 percent last year and are expected to grow 55 percent this year, according to a Time Inc. executive. Its Global Forum—typically held every other year—will return in 2013, this time in China. The function could help double the event division's revenue from an estimated $15 million this year."

2. G8 SUMMIT SHIFT: President Obama is moving the G8 Summit, initially scheduled to take place in Chicago this spring, to Camp David. Caitlin Hayden, a spokeswoman for Obama's National Security Council, said: "It's not about Chicago being able to handle logistics, as evidenced by the fact that the NATO and ISAF meetings will be held there, which are far larger than the G8 meeting...This was really about the president looking for a more informal setting with these close partners." 3. RACHAEL RAY'S SXSW PARTY: The TV host's South by Southwest Music & Media Conference is March 17 at Stubb's BBQ. Ray will serve miniature corn dogs, brisket on a biscuit with smoky barbeque sauce and sweet 'n' spicy pickles, sloppy chicken suiza sliders and gluten-free "veg-head" nachos with gree chili queso and spice refried beans. 4. MEET TO EAT: New social media platform GetLunched.com encourages professional networking by allowing users extend free lunch invitations to new business connections. The barter system integrates information from LinkedIn as well as email and phone contacts. Matt Bandy, co-founder of the site: " It’s based around the idea that there are thousands of connections, Get Lunched is about making the most of the connections. BOSTON: The Massachusetts Restaurant Association's annual awards dinner is March 12 at Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel.

The Boston Public Market Association will host its "Locally Grown Meets Happy Hour" event at Kingston Station April 2 with locally raised beef and veggie sliders, Bully Boy cocktails, raffle prizes, and samples from market vendors such as Seta's Mediterranean and Foxboro Cheese.

SAN DIEGO: Hotel Del Coronado tapped YourBash! to create and design eight weddings to showcase their newly renovated wedding spaces. YourBash! worked with local San Diego vendors to produce all different looks and designs for every type of bride and client. The Hotel Del Coronado then hosted a cocktail party and tour of the spaces Monday night for Southern California's wedding & meeting planners and event professionals to show them off.
