How to “Stay Well” on the Road

Rebecca Pappas
May 27, 2014

Marketing group JWT Worldwide identified mindfulness as a trend to watch in 2014, and, fittingly, consumers and corporations have latched on. Many firms have implemented mind-body programs for both their employees and client base, citing a marked increase in productivity. It’s no surprise, then, that this way of thinking has made its way into the meetings and event industry with more attendees and planners seeking out ways to incorporate wellness into their meetings and events.

The Westin Copley Place in Boston’s Back Bay, long a runner’s destination given its proximity to the Boston Marathon finish line, has taken this movement to heart, offering guests a variety of ways to “stay well,” empowering planners to execute highly productive meetings, and ensuring attendees will leave feeling better than when they arrived.

Work Well
Westin Copley’s 29 meeting rooms and 54,000 square feet of flexible space provide lots of options for creativity, whether it’s utilizing the floor-to-ceiling windows in the Staffordshire Room or the V.I.P. Boardroom on the seventh floor. Tangent, a state-of-the-art meeting room, is bookable by the hour for impromptu meetings. With its smart technology and intuitive design, it’s perfect for breakout sessions, speaker preparation, or as a meeting planner command center. Dedicated meetings specialists provide step-by-step support to ensure flawless execution.

Move Well
Local run concierges lead group runs several mornings a week around Boston’s Charles River. The hotel also provides turn-by-turn maps. Additionally, yoga is offered on select weekends and upon request. Both activities are great for planners looking to add fitness options.

The 24-hour fitness center, WestinWORKOUT®, has a pool along with treadmills, ellipticals, weight machines, and yoga mats. If you forget workout wear, the gear-lending program provides sneakers, athletic wear, and brand-new socks for a small fee.

Eat Well
The hotel’s highly trained culinary team delivers top-tier menus featuring SuperFoodsRx™ ingredients that are nutrient-rich and delicious. The hotel offers multiple dining options including a breakfast restaurant, a grab-and-go café, and a bar with cocktails and American fare. For those wishing to explore, the hotel is located just steps from Newbury Street, which offers a multitude of dining options.

Sleep Well
The luxurious guest rooms offer stunning Back Bay views and feature Westin’s signature Heavenly® Bed with its 10 layers of comfort. Launched in 1999, the Heavenly Bed is an industry-leading innovation with down blankets, white 250-count sheets, and a pillow-top mattress. Additionally, the “living wall” in the lobby provides fresh air.

Feel Well
The on-site spa offers treatments including massages and beauty services. Alternatively, guests can book an in-room massage. Westin’s Heavenly® Bath White Tea Aloe amenities and revitalizing rain dual showerhead are just a few of the in-room touches that help guests unwind after a long day.

Play Well
Signature teambuilding activities can be incorporated into meetings to help attendees bond and give back to the community. The hotel is also connected via indoor sky bridge to two shopping malls for additional options during downtime. Guests can even stay for a “Westin Weekend” and take advantage of late checkout and longer brunch hours.
