 * INCOMING *

1. GOOGLE'S NEW PLANNING TOOL: At the Google I/O Developers Conference, the media giant unveiled a new feature of its social networking platform called Google+ Events. The service, which is integrated with Google Calendar, can be used by marketers and consumers to send invitations and track photos taken by guests in real time. PCMag.com: http://bit.ly/MxkCse

2. CULINARY CONVENTIONS: Building on the popularity of food events as experiential platforms, two magazines separately announced plans for culinary initiatives. Paper magazine is partnering with Target and American Express for the launch of the “Super (Duper) Market,” a three-day pop-up in New York, while Bon Appétit is collaborating with Banana Republic and restaurant reservation service OpenTable for a new clothing collection called "Desk to Dinner." Paper’s effort opens July 13 and focuses on artisanal products, with participating vendors such as Boulette’s Larder, Scribe Winery, and Humphry Slocombe. The Bon Appétit venture, which launches this week, showcases outfits that can be worn in the office and to a night out and will include in-store events in cities such as Chicago, Houston, and Miami.

3. STORMY WEATHER: The storms and power outages that affected nearly 2.4 million people from Illinois to Virginia has disrupted some events too, including the AT&T National in Bethesda, Maryland. Associated Press: "The third round of play was suspended for several hours Saturday and was closed to volunteers and spectators. Mark Russell, the P.G.A. Tour's vice president of rules and competition, couldn't remember another time that a tour event was closed to fans." http://yhoo.it/MQ7sbr

4. EXECUTIVE MOVES: Paul Smailes, the brand director who oversaw the successful "Most Interesting Man in the World" campaign for Dos Equis, is taking a new position in Amsterdam that will put him in charge of Heineken Global’s digital strategies. Ad Age: http://bit.ly/MEa9K2
