* INCOMING *

1. NEW LIMITS ON OSCAR PARTIES?: In the face of a party landscape that has looked to industry insiders increasingly like blatant award campaigning, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences seems almost certain to impose new restrictions on the number and kind of Oscar parties that can be thrown. Egregious events cited in the The Hollywood Reporter story include The Social Network’s DVD-release party (“Most DVD launch parties don't feature guests like Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Scott Rudin, Michael DeLuca, David Fincher, and Aaron Sorkin.”), Arianna Huffington’s party for The King’s Speech, attended by the film’s stars, and Julia Robert’s Biutiful screening and reception; Javier Bardem was later nominated for best actor for the film.

"A proposal for revised regulations, which sources tell The Hollywood Reporter is currently being drafted by an AMPAS committee, still must be approved by the Academy's board of governors, which next meets August 2…The annual film awards season ritual has long included a gravy train of campaign parties, receptions and "celebrations" designed to court awards voters. But as THR has reported, many industry observers raised eyebrows this past season over the increasingly blatant Oscar campaigning that masqueraded as great parties. "Out of control" is how one awards consultant puts it.”

2. ZARKANA KEEPS TONYS AT BEACON: Cirque du Soleil plans to make its Zarkana production at Radio City Music Hall a recurring summer show for the next few years. This means the Tony Awards, an event held at the Rockefeller Center theater until this year, will once again take over the Upper West Side's Beacon Theatre for its 2012 run.

3. VOTE ON COLISEUM PLANS: Residents will have the chance to vote today on the future of Long Island's Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and its surrounding 77 acres. The latest proposal for the project includes $400 million to build a new arena for the New York Islanders, a convention space, and a minor league baseball park. Supporters of the project agree that if a new coliseum is not built, the hockey team will move and thousands of jobs will be lost. The New York Times:

4. GUCCI PARTNERING WITH VENICE FILM FEST: Looks like Gucci is expanding its involvement with film festivals. The Italian fashion house already has a partnership with the Tribeca Film Institute‚ the Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund‚ and is now collaborating with the Venice Film Festival. The first Gucci Award for Women in Cinema will be announced during a ceremony September 2. WWD: “Stars including Robin Wright and James Franco will join Gucci creative director Frida Giannini on the jury, which will reveal the winner during a ceremony followed by a private dinner on Sept. 2.”

5. SET SAIL: Yacht Island Design has developed a new computer-generated concept for "Tropical Island Paradise," a yacht that takes the form of an island. The 295-foot-long sailing paradise—if someone were to ever purchase it—would include a volcano with a cascading waterfall, private cabanas for 10 guests, and a helipad. The Daily:
