San Diego’s boutique resort L’Auberge Del Mar is planning a June reopening after an extensive renovation. Interior designer Barclay Butera is behind the look and is updating the 140 rooms with a moss green and chocolate color palette. Furnishing textures will include velvet, mohair, and woven silk. Each of the ground-floor rooms surrounding the pool will have a cabana, creating the feel of indoor-outdoor living spaces for guests.
The $25 million makeover will continue through December, when the property expects to open a freestanding 4,500-square-foot spa. The space will feature 10 treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor lounge areas, and a wine bar.
