Here's a closer look at San Diego's newest eateries, drinking spots, hotels, conference areas, private rooms, and other spaces available for events this summer. The new and renovated San Diego-area venues are available for corporate parties, weddings, fundraisers, outdoor functions, business dinners, team-building activities, conferences, meetings, and more.
Hotel del Coronado

The legendary Hotel del Coronado—a National Historic Landmark—is currently undergoing a $550 million restoration from Blackstone Real Estate. Newly open this summer are the hotel's Victorian meeting spaces, the 3,700-square-foot Coronet Room and the 9,300-square-foot Crown Room (pictured), which have both undergone significant renovations and careful historical restoration spearheaded by historical architect firm Heritage Architecture & Planning. Modern additions include all-new lighting, plus a background music system with built-in speakers and touch pad controls. Other event spaces at the massive hotel include the Southpointe Event Center, which features a 15,130-square-foot ballroom and a 4,000-square-foot outdoor lawn. The property is now accepting room reservations for stays in the newly restored Victorian building guest rooms beginning in March 2025.

In May, the San Diego Padres’ special events team, Petco Park Events, opened a new event space called Eve. Located on the top level of the Edge building downtown, the indoor-outdoor venue offers 270-degree panoramic views of the San Diego Bay. It has 19-foot ceilings and 7,800 square feet of indoor meeting room space, including a main event room that seats 570 or holds 1,126 standing; the room is equipped with an operable glass wall that opens to a massive terrace, along with large-format LED screens, integrated audiovisual systems, and a motorized acoustic operable wall that can divide the room for smaller events. Eve also boasts two smaller rooms that each hold 10 to 12 people, plus a greenroom and in-house catering services.

Omni San Diego Hotel

In June, Omni San Diego Hotel—a 511-room property located in the Gaslamp Quarter—finished a top-to-bottom renovation. Led by design studio Jeffrey Beers International, the hotel's new aesthetic includes a baseball-inspired design that pays homage to its connection with Petco Park and the San Diego Padres. Shades of green and brown are layered throughout the property, complemented by details like stitched leather panels at the reception desk, stadium-style light fixtures, geometric-patterned carpets, and curated artwork that evokes baseball through history. Other renovation highlights include the reimagined Tortuga pool bar and terrace, which features multiple indoor lounges and an expansive pool deck, plus the new street-level restaurant and bar, Ace Porter. The hotel offers 32,000 square feet of flexible event space spread across 24 indoor and outdoor areas. The largest space is the Grand Ballroom, which holds 1,200 people and comes with state-of-the-art AV technology, high-speed Wi-Fi, and a dedicated event team.
