Restaurant Associates, the exclusive caterer for the Carnival Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, introduced its custom five-tiered festival floor for the venue on September 18. Event planners, charity notables, public relations firms, arts partners, and other community V.I.P.s were treated to cocktails and savory hors d'oeuvres as they perused the flooring, Havana-inspired decor designed by DECO Productions, and rental furniture provided by Atlas Party Rental Inc. The new floor structure, which took 12 people nearly 20 hours to assemble, covers 4,500 square feet and is laid over the orchestra pit, transforming the Knight Concert Hall into a ballroom accommodating as many as 800 guests for galas, dances, conferences, trade shows, and presentations. Constructed of aluminum beams, plywood platforms, and a carpeted exterior, the introduction of the flooring coincides with the center's busy winter performance lineup. The downtown 570,000-square-foot venue consists of a variety of event spaces, including a 2,400-seat opera house, a 2,200-seat concert hall, an education center, and an outdoor courtyard.
