Several of Miami's chic party spots are no longer on the radar. Oxygen Lounge and Cielo Garden & Supper Club of Coconut Grove, as well as Suite/Snatch, Dek 23, and Social Miami at the Sagamore, have all closed.
Minimal information has been released as to the reason for the closings, though China Grill Management did make an official statement about Social Miami's shutdown, citing "operational differences with hotel ownership."
Clive Seecomar, owner of Seecomar Investments, recently purchased Karu & Y in downtown, which closed last month, and plans to reopen in August. The restaurant and nightclub was bought from Elliot Monter, who was forced to give it up due to lack of profits. Seecomar expects that when all the expenses are tallied including the advertising and remodeling, he will have paid more than $10 million for his new property.
