ING announced yesterday that David Scott, formerly of the University of Miami athletic department, will be the new general manager and race director for US Road Sports and Entertainment of Florida, which organizes the ING Miami Marathon each year.

“I look forward to continuing to produce a world-class event in South Florida,” Scott said in a press release. “I have enjoyed the success of team-oriented national championships and will try to capture that same atmosphere for all individual participants of our events.”

Scott has held top positions—including assistant baseball coach, assistant athletic director of operations, and travel coordinator—at the University of Miami’s athletic department for 28 years. Since 1992 he has overseen game day operations at the now-defunct Orange Bowl and Landshark Stadium, as well as coordinated the football team’s travel for regular season and bowl games.

In his new position, Scott will produce and coordinate the ING Miami Marathon taking place on January 31, as well as other races throughout South Florida, including the Publix Escape to Miami Triathlon and Marathon Fort Lauderdale.
