1. INDIANA STAGE COLLAPSE: During the Indiana State Fair on Saturday, the rigging collapsed right before country band Sugarland was to take the stage, killing five and injuring at least four dozen more. 2. FASHION'S NIGHT OUT PREVIEW: September 8 marks the third installment of the big promotion that brings out shoppers with in-store events. New York highlights include a Kenneth Cole party at the brand's Fifth Avenue store, where guests can receive a free F.N.O. T-shirt if they check in using Foursquare. 3. ZABAR'S HIGH SCHOOL RAVES: New York Post: Sasha Zabar, scion of the New York lox-and-bagel fixture Zabar's, is "raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars throwing raucous warehouse parties for private-school students…His biggest parties brought out a crowd of 1,300 kids from all the private schools, he said, and made him a profit of $20,000 in cash in one night."

4. POP-UP INFESTATION: The New York Times "City Critic" columnist Neil Genzlinger looks at the pop-up invasion and its effect on society: "So, no, it’s not that pop-ups are inherently evil. My objection is, in part, to the term itself, and its sudden ubiquity. So many people are tossing it around now that it has achieved 'hipster' status: that is, as with that word, merely using it labels you a shameless bandwagon-jumper."

The three murals displayed on the walls of the new West Hollywood Library are a collaboration between Vanity Fair and Cadillac in partnership with M.O.C.A. and the City of West Hollywood.
