1. MARRIOTT TO RUN GAYLORD: Marriott International will take over brand and management operations of Gaylord Entertainment Company's four hotels in a $210 million deal. 2. VIRTUAL ENTERTAINMENT: The hologram trend is just starting, with the latest pitch a concert featuring Marilyn Monroe alongside live entertainers. 3. NOKIA PARTY STRATEGY: Finnish phone maker Nokia has made a dramatic change to its annual Nokia World event, going from a single large-scale event to several smaller, invitation-only events. http://nokia.ly/KNwy6E

4. GM'S SPORTS PLAY: Despite General Motors' decision to not advertise during next year's Super Bowl, plenty of carmakers, movie studios, and beverage brands have signed up. Instead, GM is looking to build buzz around its Chevrolet line in the first test of the brand's new global marketing strategy, with a five-year sponsorship of the Manchester United soccer club. 5. GRUESOME TOURIST TRAP: The site of a vicious attack in which a Miami man chewed off parts of another man's face inevitably has become a tourist spot.
