Miami's elite donned their best white ensembles and hit the opening of Nikki Coconut Grove on January 31. The fourth Nikki Beach venture in Florida, the Grove space has Nikki's trademark white couches, Vietnamese wood detailing, and pillows galore, with a more relaxed, lounge atmosphere than its sister properties.
For the opening, special guests-including basketball star Alonzo Mourning-and select media were invited early to a private dinner social, where they sampled a variety of passed hors d'oeuvres provided by the club. Crab croquettes, a variety of sushi rolls, chicken skewers, and pork sliders were among the delicacies served. For dessert, dulce de leche beignets with a caramel dipping sauce were a hit with partygoers.Throughout the evening, guests sipped their cocktail of choice-many made with the event's liquor sponsors' products Roberto Cavalli vodka, Tommy Bahama rum, Piper Heidsieck Champagne, and Presidente Light beer-while lounging in the many pillow-clad banquettes. They also enjoyed entertaining performances from showgirl dancers, balancing acrobats, and a fire dancer. In addition, a musician wandered amongst the crowd playing his flute and saxophone to the beat of the tunes spun by the resident DJ.
