The courtyard of the Bass Museum of Art on Miami Beach was aglow with the images of the Monopoly game board for the launch of the game's newest limited edition, Monopoly: Miami and the Beaches, last night. Ronen Bar and Furniture Rental arranged three sets of white leather love seats and cubes around a glowing cube table with the game-board image on top. All the game pieces-including houses, hotels, and play money-accompanied each arrangement, to encourage guests to play.
The complete game was displayed throughout the museum lobby, along with a life-size Mr. Monopoly, who greeted guests. DJ Mark Leventhal was on hand as well, entertaining guests both before and after the performance by the New World Symphony that took place halfway through the evening.
In addition to cocktails from the event's liquor sponsor, Rums of Puerto Rico, the Clevelander hotel served grown-up versions of favorite childhood foods including grilled cheese sandwiches, French fries, and cheeseburger sliders.
The new Monopoly game is available now in specialty retail outlets and features Miami landmarks such as the Eden Roc and Fontainebleau hotels, Ocean Drive magazine (taking the place of the original's "Chance" markers), the design district, and Miami Seaquarium.
