Looking for ways to jazz up outdoor events? Here are three new options that fit the bill.
1. Tents N Events recently added a line of black tents to its inventory. Similar to a traditional clearspan temporary structure, this version has black vinyl panels on the top and sides of the tent, giving an event an indoor feel. The tents can also be custom-designed with clear, white, and black panels, including combinations such as a clear ceiling and black walls. The structures range in size from 10 by 10 feet to 50 by 100 feet. Rental prices start at $125.
2. Miami residents Corina Biton and Lori Cubel formed activewear company BloqUV in April, specializing in T-shirts with built-in ultraviolet protectionβequivalent to SPF for sunscreensβof 50 or more. Ideal for outdoor events or teambuilding activities, short-sleeved ($46 for women and $56 for men) and long-sleeved ($56 for women, $64 for men) styles are available. Custom-screened graphic designs can be added for an additional fee, depending on the complexity of the image. Discounts of 20 to 30 percent, based on quantity, are available for bulk orders. Allow four weeks for delivery of 100 shirts or less, and eight to 10 weeks for orders of more than 500.
3. The Taqueria Los Dos Amigos food truck was recently launched by two brothers looking to fill Miami's need for the authentic Mexican food they grew up eating. The two outfitted a former Lance cracker truck with a mini kitchen they use to make burritos, quesadillas, tacos, and tortas (a Mexican sandwich) for $2 to $5 each. The truck can be hired for events; pricing varies depending on location and number of guests.
