Here’s a selection of the latest large event venues to open 25 minutes north of Miami.
1. Audiovisual company Uplyte opened its office-turned-event-venue, WhiteSpace, in April. The bilevel loft is completely white from floor to ceiling (and repainted before every event). The main area, called Studio A, is a 2,500-square-foot room that holds 100 people on the ground floor and 100 on the mezzanine. The 4,000-square-foot Studio B opened in November.
2. Entertainment and nightlife space Exit 66 opened in May. The 20,000-square-foot venue has five individually themed rooms, including a 10,000-square-foot poolside space for 400 and three bars. The Cool Pool, inspired by Paul Newman’s 1961 film The Hustler, features six billiard tables and space for 300. The venue’s final two event spaces are scheduled to open in the coming months.
3. W Hotels’ first South Florida location opened in May with the unveiling of the W Fort Lauderdale. The 517-room hotel has 12,400 square feet of conventional meeting space, including meeting rooms with ocean views. Also on site: the Living Room lounge just off the lobby, Whiskey Blue bar, Bliss Spa, and Wet pool deck. Steak and seafood restaurant Steak 954 is available for events and can host 240.
