1. The Opium Group and nightlife honchos Nicola Siervo and Karim Masri (co-owners of Mokai and Quattro) opened Wall at the W South Beach hotel in late July. The 3,500-square-foot club is outfitted with a copper mesh ceiling, black leather banquettes, and gold-and-black-patterned walls. An oversize gold sofa with room for 32 serves as the space’s centerpiece.
2. Formerly Opium Garden in South Beach, Opium moved to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in April. The club’s main area is a 6,000-square-foot space intended to channel the cabarets of Paris alongside Asian decor. A 2,000-square-foot private room holds 200 guests, or the entire venue can accommodate 1,200.
3. Crazy Pianos Miami, a dueling-piano bar, opened in May in Coconut Grove’s CocoWalk. The multilevel space can accommodate as many as 500 people for receptions and has a raised V.I.P. area for 33. The company also offers off-site entertainment via Crazy Pianos on Tour, a packaged version of the bar’s signature music performances.
4. Upscale bowling alley Splitsville opened in South Miami’s Sunset Place shopping center in October 2008. The 26,000-square-foot venue has 13 lanes, billiard tables, a DJ four nights a week, five bars, and is only open to adults in the evening. For private events, five lanes are secluded for a more private experience. For buyouts, the venue can accommodate 700.
