1. The Doral Golf Resort and Spa’s renovated Spa at Doral opened in December with larger treatment rooms—reduced in number from 52 to 32 to create the extra space. The rejuvenated café seats 150.
2. On the fourth floor of Miami Beach’s Hilton Bentley Hotel, Spa 101 opened in March 2009. The 700-square-foot Asian-inspired space has rich wood-paneled walls, two private treatment rooms, and a central station for nail treatments. A relaxation space features a two-floor terrace that can accommodate groups as large as 100.
3. Open in the design district since May, Eména Spa offers group treatment and fitness packages. The 2,500-square-foot space has six treatment rooms and can accommodate as many as 100 guests for day or night events. Services include facials, body scrubs, martial arts workshops, and weight-loss seminars. Group discounts on treatment packages are available with buyouts.
4. The 28,000-square-foot Spa at Icon Brickell opened in February 2009 overlooking Key Biscayne. Shared by the Viceroy Miami hotel and its connecting residential towers, the spa’s biggest draw is its 5,000-square-foot water lounge, designed by Philippe Starck with a reflecting pool and three plunge pools. There are also 10 treatment rooms, a 2,800-square-foot exercise facility, and a 45-seat media room. Groups as large as 100 can be accommodated.
5. Aveda’s only luxury spa in Florida, the Palms Spa opened at the renovated Palms Hotel and Spa in May. The 5,000-square-foot retreat has four multipurpose rooms, a two-person treatment suite, a hydrotherapy room, and four outdoor tiki cabanas. The indoor/outdoor pavilion overlooks a waterfall and is connected to the hotel’s gardens and pool.
