Miami Beach is known as a place for reinvention, and venues are no different. The latest beach restaurant to be transformed is Vice Lounge Miami, formerly the location for O Asian Grill and Rumi.
The new incarnation of the Lincoln Road space hosted its grand opening on March 12, with a late-night party that showed off the lounge side of the venue.
By day, the venue is known as Vice Café, serving dishes by executive chef Michael Blum. By night, the space turns into a nightlife lounge, complete with DJ sets and bottle service.
A freestanding bar welcomes guests into the corridor of the 3,800-square-foot space, which sprawls over two levels. Decor ranges from the jet black walls and couches of the main bars to an all-white "Crystal Room,” one of the lounge’s two V.I.P. areas.
Open to the public Thursday through Saturday nights, Vice Lounge will host DJ sets and live performances by hip-hop violinists, drum lines, and Marie Antoinette-style dancers. Small plates by chef Blum will be available, and can be paired with bottle service. (Suggested pairings, such as cupcakes and champagne, will appear on the menu.)
The space is available for buyout Sunday through Wednesday nights and can accommodate 350 people. The Crystal Room and the mezzanine, the lounge’s second V.I.P. area, each have seating for 25. The private room seats 15.
Vice Lounge organizes in-house catering by chef Blum for private events, but will also allow outside catering services upon request.
