Muted, intimate lighting usually means lots of votive candles. But here's a more innovative lighting piece with a similar effect: Airstar Space Lighting makes something called Airstars, which are nylon gridcloth balloons with halogen lights inside. For outdoor events, the self-inflating Crystal Airstars can be mounted on stands or suspended from the ceiling, and provide a bright, uniform light that can make a nighttime event glow. The indoor Gala Airstars are a helium-filled balloons that create a muted, romantic ambiance free of the harsh glare of traditional lights.
