Ian Schrager--the impresario behind the Hudson, Paramount and Royalton hotels--is eyeing the land under 2 Columbus Circle for his next high-gloss hotel, according to The New York Observer. Schrager has been approached by two developers looking to buy and demolish the windowless structure. Owned by the city, the building will be a neighbor to the new AOL Time Warner headquarters going up in Columbus Circle. The subject of a recent New York Times Magazine profile, Schrager is working on a new hotel at Astor Place (the first he'll construct himself, instead of converting an existing structure).
